MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ (October 2010)  According to the United States Department of Agriculture, students who start the day with breakfast perform better at school. This is why Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancakes and Hillsborough County schools have teamed up to educate students on the importance of a well-balanced breakfast. The Hillsborough County School Board and Mayor Pam Iorio proclaims Friday, Oct. 29th, 2010 “Breakfast Education Day” with a county-wide celebration of the exciting breakfast education program. The celebration will take place at Pizzo Elementary School.

“A nutritious breakfast is the first step to a successful morning in the classroom, “said Brandi Unchester, Senior Brand Manager of Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes. “We understand that there isn’t always time to prepare a homemade breakfast during the week. Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancakes makes it easy for parents and caregivers to offer a breakfast full of wholesome warmth and goodness in minutes to start the school day off right.”

“Breakfast Education Day” sponsored by Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes will feature a panel of notable Tampa experts who will show families how a quick, nutritious breakfast can lead to a gold star in the classroom.  Heather Wellings R.D., nutrition specialist for the Hillsborough Country Public Schools, USF shortstop, Sam Mende, Outfielder, Alex Mendez, and Stacey Bender a USF Alumni Ambassador will offer tips and tricks for staying healthy and will show kids how to make breakfast time fun!  In addition to learning about the importance of breakfast, students will participate in a Halloween pumpkin pancake decorating workshop, get motivated by Rocky the Bull and the USF Sun Dolls Cheerleaders and receive a coupon for a free Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancake product.

“We are so honored to have Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes bring this program and inspire the importance of breakfast awareness in the Hillsborough Country,” says Principal Pamela Wilkins of Pizzo Elementary. “The children that participate in this special program have all earned 50 Pizzo Bulls Points, which is part of our positive support system. I am so proud that Pizzo Elementary can be a part of this exciting initiative with Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes,” added Wilkins.

The University of South Florida Athletic Department, Pizzo Elementary School, Pinnacle Food Service Division and Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes all worked together to help raise awareness and promote nutritious choices and lifestyles in the Hillsborough School Public Schools.

Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancake has embarked on a nationwide tour to contribute to elementary schools and show kids that breakfast is not only fun, but also the key ingredient to a productive and successful day at school! The Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes has visited schools in Philadelphia, PA, Baltimore, MD, Boston, MA, Charlotte, NC Montclair, NJ and now Tampa, FL!  Purchase of Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancake products in Tampa supports these education programs.
