MAYOR LUKE RAVENSTAHL DECLARES NOVEMBER 17th AS “AUNT JEMIMA® FROZEN BREAKFAST EDUCATION DAY” IN PITTSBURGH
MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ (November 2010) Studies show that children who eat breakfast are healthier, more active and less likely to become obese. This is why Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancakes, the Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC and The Children’s Center of Pittsburgh have teamed up to educate children on the importance of a well-balanced breakfast. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl proclaims Wednesday, Nov. 17th, 2010, “Breakfast Education Day” with a county-wide celebration of the exciting breakfast education program. The celebration will take place at The Children’s Center of Pittsburgh near Magee-Womens Hospital.
“A wholesome breakfast is the first step to a successful morning in the classroom, “said Brandi Unchester, Senior Brand Manager of Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes. “We understand that there isn’t always time to prepare a homemade breakfast during the week. Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancakes makes it easy for parents and caregivers to offer a breakfast full of wholesome warmth and goodness in minutes to start the day off right.”
“Breakfast Education Day” sponsored by Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes will feature a panel of notable Pittsburgh experts who will show families how a quick, wholesome breakfast allows children to grow, learn and play well all day, and helps them stay healthy and strong. Anna Ardine, Clinical Nutrition Manager of Magee-Womens Hospital will offer tips and tricks for staying healthy and will show kids how to make breakfast time fun! In addition to learning about the importance of breakfast, children will participate in a Thanksgiving pancake decorating workshop using Whole Grain Pancakes and a variety of fruit toppings, and receive a coupon for Aunt Jemima® Frozen Pancake products.
“We are so honored to have Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes bring this program and inspire the importance of breakfast awareness in Pittsburgh,” says Mary Vandivier, Program Director as the Children’s Center of Pittsburgh. “I am so proud that The Children’s Center of Pittsburgh can be a part of this exciting initiative,” added Vandivier.
