Pinnacle Foods Expands Vlasic® Facility in Imlay City, Creates Jobs in Michigan

IMLAY CITY, MICH. (Aug. 26, 2013) – Pinnacle Foods Inc. officially commemorated the expansion of production at its Vlasic manufacturing facility in Imlay City today. This expansion adds approximately 29 full-time jobs, plus another 500 seasonal jobs during the peak summer production season. Governor Rick Snyder and Imlay City Mayor Walt Bargen joined local government officials along with leaders from Pinnacle Foods to celebrate the occasion at today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“I am pleased that Pinnacle Foods is expanding its commitment to Michigan with the construction of this new facility and by creating new permanent and seasonal jobs. This project is an example of the increased investment and job growth in the state’s food and agriculture industry, which is playing a key role in making Michigan the Comeback State,” the governor said, adding the industry contributes $91 billion a year to the state’s economy and provides 923,000 jobs.

With the expansion, the Vlasic facility in Imlay City now produces all Vlasic, Milwaukee, and Wiejski Wyroby products, as well as, Vlasic’s newest line of premium, hand-packed pickles, Farmer’s Garden by Vlasic.

The expansion includes the creation of new jobs in managerial and supervisory positions, as well as openings in maintenance, technical, clerical, and production departments. The infrastructure improvements will help the plant accommodate more capacity.

In February of 2012, Pinnacle Foods announced its decision to focus on the branded Vlasic business while de-emphasizing its lower-margin, un-branded food-service pickle businesses, resulting in a decision to consolidate all of the company’s pickle production to the Imlay City facility.
